Sound Biscuit Productions is hosting an exclusive weekend with Tim Stafford. This is your opportunity to learn from and pick with Grammy-winning, guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and author Tim Stafford at Sound Biscuit Productions Studio!

This guitar workshop will be open to intermediate to advanced guitarists and will cover the following topics:

  • The “Ts”:  Timing, Tuning, Tone, Technique and Taste—how to improve your command of all five

  • Figuring out a break

  • Thinking melodically

  • Bluegrass rhythm guitar 

  • Lead guitar techniques:  floating, pulls, slants, hammers, slides, bends, thirds, fifths, harmonics, and more

  • The Nashville number system

  • Chord substitutions

  • Playing in a bluegrass band

  • Improvising

  • Learning a fiddle tune and exercises for building speed


You all may recognize Tim Stafford as the guitarist/vocalist with the award winning Bluegrass band “Blue Highway” which he co-founded in 1994.  He is also an acclaimed guitar teacher, producer and songwriter with an amazing career under his belt.  

  • A member of Alison Krauss and Union Station from 1990 to 1992 

  • A member of Blue Highway from 1994 to present

  • Received a Grammy in 1993 for the song “Every Time You Say Goodbye”

  • A  4-time Grammy nominee

  • Dove Award winner in 2004 for the song “Wondrous Love”

  • 28 IBMA Awards including Songwriter of the Year in 2014 and 2017

  • 6 SPBGMA Awards including Bluegrass Guitar Performer of the Year, 2002 and 2015.  

Tim has taught at almost every major bluegrass-oriented camp, including Rockygrass Academy, Camp Bluegrass (South Plains College, TX), Augusta Heritage, Wintergrass Academy, Sore Fingers (UK), Bluegrass at the Beach, Nashcamp, Kaufman's Flatpicking Camp, California Bluegrass Association Camp at Grass Valley, St. Louis Flatpick, Resosummit, Summergrass Academy, Grand Targhee, Bluegrass Masters Weekend, and Nashville Flatpick and Songwriting Camp. He’s led workshops at dozens of festivals over the years as well, and founded the Bluegrass in the Schools Program at IBMA in the 1990s.

As a producer, Tim has produced recordings by several artists, including Kenny Chesney, Chris Jones, Ric-o-chet, The Acutab Sessions, Jack Tottle and the Infamous Stringdusters.
